OpenAI has rolled out a handy new feature in ChatGPT that lets users pin important conversations across web, Android, and iOS, making it easier to access frequently used chats without scrolling.
OpenAI, in a post on X, stated that pinned chats are slowly but surely reaching all the supported platforms. The user can pin the chat by using the three-dot menu next to a chat on the web or by long-pressing a chat on mobile. Once pinned, the conversation stays at the top of the chat list just like other pinning options on well-known apps such as WhatsApp and Telegram.
The feature has been made available due to user requests. OpenAI included tools that allowed users to create branches of conversations on the web without losing the original discussion as one of the major features of the year. Many users at that time also asked for the ability to pin chats for easier access. With the December rollout, users are now able to have key conversations visible at all times thus enhancing workflow and convenience.
Aside from pinned chats, the company has also made a chat app store-style directory available, thereby, enabling ChatGPT tremendous growth. By introducing the new in-app marketplace, users can now connect third-party services directly within ChatGPT on web and mobile platforms, thus, lessening the switching between apps.
The directory consists of different sections, namely: Featured, Lifestyle, and Productivity, and it is supporting, for the time being, services like Booking.com, Spotify, and Dropbox. After giving permission, users can talk to these apps in a chat using easy commands like “@” or “/”. OpenAI has also made some changes in the language by changing the term “connectors” previously used for integrations such as Google Drive to apps thereby indicating that there is a shift in the direction of an app-focused ChatGPT experience.
